Dr. Paula Pilcher will begin the evening with a 15-minute presentation on teen health and wellness.  Dr. Pilcher is the founder of Empowerteen, a teen empowerment wellness program utilizing mental-emotional-physical-social preventive health education, yoga, movement, and music.  More info about this program and the after-school opportunities can be found at http://www.empowerteen.org.

The second speaker of the evening will be Matt Cline, Cedar Park's Safety Resource Officer, who will spend 45 minutes discussing tools, apps and other methods to monitor and protect your student's digital life.

All CPMS parents are invited and encouraged to attend and learn more about these important and educational topics.  These presentations begin at 7pm in the CPMS Media Center (library). Questions can be directed to shannon_anderson@beaverton.k12.or.us.

Is your student missing their lunch box?  From the current state of the CPMS Lost & Found, they are not alone.  Over 40 lunch boxes are currently sitting unclaimed, as well as two dozen water bottles, various jackets, sweatshirts, and CPMS gym t-shirts.

All of these items will be removed by Friday, 12/1.  Please have your student check in the Wolf Den if they are missing an item. They can check in with Fanya Stein with any questions.

Staff Appreciation Committee Seeks Co-Chair in Time for Cookie Exchange

Cedar Park PTC's Staff Appreciation Committee is currently seeking a co-chair to help coordinate staff appreciation activities at Cedar Park.  With December quickly approaching, leadership is needed to ensure a smooth cookie exchange event.

Historically, the Staff Appreciation committee has organized food-related events, such as monthly lunches, dinner on conference days, cookies for the winter exchange, and activities for staff appreciation week in the spring.

Generally, the work would include creating a donation list to be sent through mVP and organizing the food tables on the day of events.  It's an excellent and fun way to be creative and bring smiles to all our hard-working CPMS staff.

If you are interested in bringing awesome events to CPMS teachers, please contact Angela Redmon for more information.

PTC Purchases Student Planners

This fall, Cedar Park's PTC purchased 700 student planners for every sixth and seventh grader.  Eighth graders have switched to the free online planners offered in their Canvas or google accounts.

Student organizational skills are a strong part of middle school and AVID teaching goals.

This purchase was a part of the 2017-18 budget and was made possible by your generous 5K donation.

CPMS Successfully Staffs BSD Clothes Closet

Cedar Park parents and community members successfully staffed the Beaverton Clothes Closet today, ensuring excellent service to all the clientele and working through literal mounds of donations.

Volunteers sort through a mountain of donations.

Volunteers sort through a mountain of donations.

Due to the recently implemented early release Wednesdays, the Clothes Closet has seen a downturn in volunteerism in the afternoon.  Thankfully CPMS was able to staff the store through 4pm.

The store is open to all families with current students, kindergarten through 12th grade.  Families do not need to prove need, but do need to pick up a admit slip from their school secretary.  The Closet is open from 10am-7pm every Wednesday of the school year.

Currently the Beaverton Clothes Closet is in need of winter coats and hooded sweatshirts for middle and high schoolers.  Donations can be dropped of at their location at 16550 SW Merlo Road, Beaverton, OR 97006.

More information regarding BSD's Clothes Closet program can be found here.
