Eight Grade Send-Off Volunteer Opportunities

On the last day of school (Tuesday, 6/19), the 8th graders will enjoy a fun-filled send-off with a PTC-funded ice cream social, as well as a variety of party activities.

We need volunteers to provide man power and crowd control that day.

Volunteers Needed for Final 8th Grade Art Lit Lesson

The eighth graders of Cedar Park are exploring a unit on the American Civil War. The CPMS Art Literacy Program is expanding on this topic by studying the Civil War photographer, Mathew Brady.  If you’ve seen a Civil War photo, it was probably done by Mathew Brady or one of his photographers.

Art Lit Volunteers will take a portrait of your student(s) in the style of Mathew Brady.  Costumes are supplied by Art Lit.  Volunteers are needed to help students choose costumes and assist students putting costumes on over their clothes.

Because Art Lit does not extend into high school, this is your middle schooler's last Art Lit lesson at BSD.

If your child DOES NOT want their portrait taken, they may opt-out. If your child needs extra time, email the Art Lit coordinators to set up a time when it is not hectic.

Boys, please wear dark pants (chino-type) or jeans.  This also goes for girls planning to fight in the war.

Staff Appreciation Opportunities This Week

Staff Appreciation Week is here!

On Monday, our incredible staff enjoyed a PTC-funded catered Hawaiian lunch from 808 Grindz, made possible by your 5K donations.

Wednesday will be a taco lunch organized by our CPMS admins.

Parents will be providing a variety of chips and salsa (excellent with taco leftovers) for the staff on Thursday, 5/10. Store bought or homemade dips are perfect. Please have all items delivered to the school by 10am.

We will also be providing a candy bar on Friday, 5/11.  Candy donations will need to be dropped off Wednesday the 9th at 10am.

6th Grade Art Lit Lesson Scheduled for Wednesday, 4/11

Cedar Park 6th graders will enjoy an Art Lit lesson on American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein on Wednesday, 4/11, during their Humanities period.  Students will gather in the Media Center to hear a presentation and will then create an art piece influenced by Roy Lichtenstein.

Volunteers are needed to prep materials and help facilitate the art project. Zero art experience is necessary.  

***In order to attend the same session as their student, parents will need to know which period their 6th grader has Humanities.

PERIOD 3 (Core 1) Project Helper-- Wed, 4/11 from 10:15-11:45am

PERIOD 4 (Core 2) Project Helper-- Wed, 4/11 from 10:30am-12:45pm

PERIOD 6 (Core 3) Project Helper-- Wed, 4/11 from 1-2:30pm

Staff Appreciation Soup & Salad Supper Scheduled for 3/14

The Cedar Park PTC has rescheduled its staff appreciation soup dinner for our hard-working teachers for Wednesday, 3/14.  

Volunteers will be providing an early dinner of soup, salads, and breads for the staff as they survive their hectic conference schedule.

KEY INFO:

  • Soups/breads can be home made or store bought (dietary info/ingredient lists are greatly appreciated). 
  • Anyone with a slow cooker that they could lend would be greatly appreciated. Be sure to label them and pick up as soon as possible.
  • Bring items to the office by 4pm. All former sign ups have been deleted.

Student Socials Rescheduled for this Friday, 3/2

The CPMS class socials have been rescheduled to this Friday, March 2nd. Volunteers are necessary to make this a success. All previous sign ups have been deleted so re-sign up if you'd like to help.

As always, you can volunteer for any grade regardless of your student's grade level.

No special dress is required for the socials.

Food Carts Available

There will be a food cart for all grades. Each student is given $1.50 to spend at the cart with items costing as little as 25 cents. They may bring some extra money if they'd like but won't need it. This food cart who has worked with schools in the area and has very low costs.

Requesting Music

In addition to various activities there will also be a D.J. Students can use the Radio Parties interactive website to make song requests for the event by submitting their requests online at http://radioparties.djintelligence.com/request/. The group name is "Cedar Park" and no password is needed.
